Charles William Benge, Jr

30 Aug 1952 in Wichita, Kansas - 14 Dec 2022 in Wichita, Kansas

Charles W. Benge, Jr of Wichita, Kansas, entered rest on December 14, 2022. Services will be a private family service and at a later date the family will announce a military memorial service and luncheon.

Charles served his country in both United States Army and United States Navy and was proud to tell anyone who listened that he served on the USS Constellation. Prior to his retirement, he worked as an over the road truck driver. He was also an avid Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Cardinals, and Oklahoma Sooners fan. He was known as "Dad" to many of his kids' friends - even after growing into adulthood.

Charles was well known to be very humble but would also help others often, before thinking of himself. If there was someone in need, he would make sure to take care of them as best he could. He would take food from his own cabinet for someone who was hungry. He would take clothes or shoes from his own closet if someone needed them. No one around him would be without if he could help it.

Charles was preceded in death by his father Charles Benge, Sr. and his mother Opal Benge. He is survived by his wife Debra Benge, sons Warren, Richard, and Douglas, daughter Rebecca, and proud "Poppy" of eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, brothers Phillip and Greg, and ten fur-grandbabies.

If you would like to donate in honor of his memory, The Wounded Warrior Project was a cause he cared deeply for. https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/ or 4899 Belfort Road Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256
