Janalee Martin Oehlert

Janalee Oehlert, 65, of Lawrence Kansas, passed away April 9th, 2018 in Ohio with her family by her side. Jan was born to Jack and Joy Martin of Wichita, Kansas on July 4th, 1952. She graduated Wichita West High School in 1970, and went on to attend and graduate William Woods College in Fulton, MO due to her love of horses and desire to work with them. In 1981 she married Richard Oehlert of Lawrence, KS. Together they had three children: Christina Scharfenberg (Matthew), Geoffrey Oehlert; and Anna Lockner (Ricky); and seven grandchildren. She was able to enjoy her love of horses all her life, and was as talented as the day is long regarding all things equine. Her family looked up to her in many ways, and the memory of her strength, wisdom, and drive will be with them always. A memorial service will be held this Sunday, April 15th, from 1PM to 4 PM, at the Kanawaka Town Hall, 776 US 40 in Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Carriage and Driving Society of Greater Kansas City, care of Judi Adams 8763 Hillside Dr, Lenexa KS, 66227.
