Betty Jean Johnson York

Betty Jean York, 71, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at her home in Wichita, Kansas, while being surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 24, 1952 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Ernest and Mildred Johnson. 

Betty graduated from Wichita West High School with the class of 1970. She began her working career as a beautician, then worked for St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, then went on to work for Dillard's and Shepler's (Boot Barn) as a sales consultant for many years. Betty also worked for Walmart as an accountant.

Betty met the love of her life, Daniel Wayne York in September of 1994, and the two were then married on October 12, 1996. She enjoyed knitting, coloring, photo collaging, scrap booking, attending church, but most important spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by: her parents.

She is survived by: her loving husband, Dan; her children, Travis, Mark, and Kyle; her bonus children, Bonnie, Jennie, and Ricky; her sisters, Louann & Melba; along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Memorial Service will be held 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Resthaven Mortuary Chapel, 11800 W. US-54 Highway, Wichita, Kansas, with Pastor Zack Parent officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be designated in Betty's name to Mercy Hill Baptist Church, 2110 W. 45th St. S., Wichita, Kansas 67217.
