Karen Sue Avery

11 Jan 1952 in Wichita, Kansas - 14 May 2025 in Wichita, Kansas

Karen Sue Avery, age 73, passed away suddenly on May 14, 2025, in her hometown of Wichita, Kansas. Born and raised in Wichita, Karen devoted her life to caring for others as a registered nurse—a career that was a true reflection of her compassionate heart. Her sudden passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who loved her, but her legacy of love, strength, and generosity will never be forgotten. Karen was the beloved mother of Trenton McEuen and Shannon Black. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Zana Maloney, Jaysa Jones, and Zion Jones, and a cherished great-grandmother to Zayden Payne, Beckham Allen, Jahlyl Offray, and Jream Offray. She is survived by her twin sister, Linda Murphy, nephews Greg and Brad Yarbrough. Her sister, Carol Kinion, as well as her daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her closest companion John—all of whom were the greatest joys of her life. Karen had a deep love for her family and lived life with creativity and adventure. She was passionate about traveling, exploring new places, and filling her days with art—painting, crafting stained glass, and designing stepping stones with extraordinary talent. Her home was a place of warmth and togetherness, always filled with laughter, love, and the buzz of family and friends. Karen loved with her whole heart. Her kindness, vibrant spirit, and unwavering devotion to those around her will be remembered always.

One thing about Karen—she liked her coffee hot and her beer ice cold.

Celebration of Life Service to be announced at a later date.
