Cynthia “Cindy” Ann Donnell Miller, a devoted mother, grandmother, wife, educator, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 6, 2026. Born on November 7, 1952, in Wichita, Kansas. She was the beloved daughter of Dr. James Donnell and Elizabeth Thies Stables both of whom preceded her in death. Cynthia is survived by her husband, Marty Miller; her children, James Lyon and Erin Ludwig, and six adoring grandchildren—Olie Lyon, Ozzie Lyon, Onna Lyon, Bodie Ludwig, Mac Ludwig, and Lucy Ludwig—each of whom brought her immeasurable happiness.
Cindy dedicated her professional life to serving the students and families of USD 259, where she worked as both a teacher and an administrator. Her passion for education touched countless lives, and her influence continues to ripple through the community she served.
In retirement, Cindy remained deeply engaged with the world around her. She generously gave her time and talents to numerous nonprofit boards and organizations, always eager to help others and strengthen the community she loved. Among her many interests, Botanica held a special place in her heart. There, she and her husband helped establish a women’s auxiliary group known as the Pistils, a project that brought her great joy and pride.
Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support will be forever remembered by all who knew her.
For the past sixteen years, Cindy shared her life with her husband, Marty, whose companionship and love enriched her days. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, partnership, and deep affection.
Cindy’s legacy is one of generosity, service, and love. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her steadfast dedication to others, and the grace with which she lived her life. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Memorial Service will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, April 10, 2026, at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. The service will be live streamed through the church’s website – click “Watch Online.”

I am saddened to hear of Cindy's passing! She was a dear friend, starting at West High and then as my college room mate at KU. I know her family and other friends will miss her. My condolences.
