25 Dec 1951 in Wichita, Kansas - 13 Jun 2024 in Wichita, Kansas

Today, we gather to honor and celebrate the life of Lynn Drake, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  Lynn passed away peacefully on June 13th, 2024, with his loving wife, Alisa, by his side.  He was 72 years old.

Lynn was born on December 25th, 1951, in Wichita, Kansas, to Lloyd and Barbara Drake.  As the mischievous middle child of three boys, Lynn filled his childhood with laughter and adventure.  He graduated from West High School in 1970 and attended Wichita State University.

Lynn's career was as diverse as his interests. Starting out at Pepsi, he later found himself delivering Beechcraft and Cessna aircraft across the country.  His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own successful flooring installation business, where his craftsmanship and dedication earned him respect throughout the community.

On December 5th, 1985, Lynn's life changed forever when he met Alisa on a blind date.  Their love was immediate and enduring, lasting 37 years in marriage filled with unwavering support and deep affection. Lynn was a devoted father to his children, Chris and Anna, always present at their school events and sports games.  He cherished family time, particularly enjoying the outdoors and organizing memorable adventures with the Boy Scouts, including a legendary canoeing trip in Canada.

In 1989 lightning struck and burned Lynn’s parents’ home. He took off 3 months from work to build them a new house.  Lynn's generosity extended beyond his family, as he volunteered with the Shriners and brought joy to many as a clown and Santa's helper.  His love for American muscle cars and his knack for cooking delighted friends and neighbors alike, especially during his famous Thanksgiving dinners and extravagant Christmas celebrations.  The Drake household became renowned for its spectacular Christmas decorations and festive spirit.

In retirement, Lynn found peace by the lake, and relished the joy of watching his grandchildren grow and play.  His unexpected battle with esophageal cancer revealed his strength and resilience, traits he demonstrated throughout his life.  His faith ran deep and was personal.   Lynn's legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched, whether through his kindness, creativity, or sheer determination.

Today, as we bid farewell to Lynn, we carry forward the memories of his laughter, his love for his family, and his zest for life.  He leaves behind a legacy of warmth and compassion that will continue to inspire us all.  Lynn Drake will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May he rest in peace, knowing his life was a gift to us all.
