Marva J Lange was born on a farm in Mitchell County, Kansas to Edward Herman and Zella May (née Gaskill) Lange.  She joined the faculty of Wichita West the 1961 - 1962 school year and taught at West through the 1976 - 1977 school year.  In 1978 she was part of the faculty that opened Wichita Northwest High School.  Prior to joining the Wichita West team she taught in Greensburg, at  Norton Community High School and Newton High School.

Marva J. Lange, 83, retired Language Arts teacher, died Thursday May 7, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Zella Lange and one sister, Dorothy Lange. She was born December 3, 1925, in Mitchell County and grew up on the family farm south of Simpson. She graduated in a class of five from Simpson High School and earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Fort Hays State College. Marva began her teaching career in Greensburg and ultimately came to Wichita to teach at Wichita High School West; she was later part of the staff which opened Wichita High School Northwest and retired from Northwest.
