Shirley Faye Walker was born on April 19, 1935 in Springfield, Colorado to Francis Eugene and Mildred Emma (née Potter) Walker.  She taught English and Journalism at Wichita West from the 1966 - 1967 school year through the end of the 1974 - 1975 school year.  Prior to teaching at West she taught business, English and Journalism at Eldorado Junior College and Eldorado High School.  Ms Gabrielson taught English and Journalism at Wichita South from the 1975 - 1976 school year until her retirement in 1991.

Gabrielson, Shirley, 76, died Sept. 18, 2011, of cancer. Mrs. G to her students, she taught journalism at Wichita West and South high schools, retiring in 1991. The daughter of Francis and Mildred Walker, Shirley grew up in St. John. Survivors: husband, Kenneth; son, Nils, and his wife, Lori; daughter, Kjerstin, and her husband, Jerry; grandchildren, Maggie, Molly, Clare and Jack; stepmother, Maurine Walker; brother, Jim Walker; and stepbrothers, Steve and Maurice Higgins.
