James Albert Curry was born on February 5, 1929 in Pratt, Kansas to James Ira and Una Loye (née Kissinger) Curry.  He taught business education courses at Wichita West from the 1960 - 1961 school year until his retirement in 1987.

Curry, James Albert 88, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017. He was born February 5, 1929, to James and Una (Kessinger) Curry in Pratt, KS. James was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a beloved husband and loving father. He worked his way through college as a barber and became a high school teacher where he had a positive influence on thousands of young minds. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Valeda Blandin. James is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia; children, Kris A. (Tim) Berger, Mark A. Curry, and Kevin T. Curry; stepchildren, Sheryl (Bob) Christiansen, Jeanette (Keith) Cutberth, Ronald Pollard, David (Ivy) Pollard, James Pollard, Kathryn (Rodney) Deem, and Christine (Shawn) Rankin; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his dog, Beau. A private memorial was held Friday, July 7, 2017, at Smith Family Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N.
